Robert Adams Middle School

Computer Science

Coding, digital citizenship, and emerging technologies — building creative, capable, and responsible learners in grades 6–8 with Mr. Perkins.

What We Value in Class

The mindset behind everything we do in Computer Science

💡

Creative Problem Solving

Coding is about figuring things out. We celebrate trying, debugging, and finding multiple paths to a solution.

🎯

Persistence Over Perfection

Bugs are part of the process. Students learn to slow down, read carefully, and keep going when things don't work the first time.

🔒

Responsible Tech Use

From digital citizenship to cybersecurity, we talk about what it means to be a thoughtful user and creator online.

🎉

Make Things You're Proud Of

Students design games, websites, apps, and AI projects — real things they can share with friends and family.

About the Class

Computer Science & Digital Literacy is a year-long course for every student in grades 6, 7, and 8. Over three years, students build foundational digital skills and then move into real coding, app development, game design, AI, and cybersecurity.

Students receive one final grade at the end of the year. When checking PowerSchool, look for the Y1 column.

  • Full-year course in all three grades
  • Assignments posted in Google Classroom
  • Extra help available during RAMS, lunch, or after school
  • Standards-aligned with MA Digital Literacy & Computer Science frameworks
